After School Art

Tuesdays in November

Painting on Canvas

November Tuesdays @ 2:30 pm (dates: 9, 16, 23, +30)
Grades 5-8   Two session minimum strongly suggested or come back weekly for more!

We will be painting with acrylic paint on canvas. Each student chooses their own path. Landscapes, portraits, abstract art, or just for fun themes are all welcome. Miss Liz will teach painting techniques and styles where appropriate, tool care, and will support students throughout the artistic process. As paintings are built up in layers, it is strongly suggested that students come to at least two sessions for drying time and of course more if they are really having a good time with it :)

Inventions: Crazy Contraptions

November Tuesdays @ 3:30 pm (dates: 9, 16, 23, +30)
Grades K-6   Two session minimum suggested for more time on the cooler projects or you can always come back for more!

The more days you come, the crazier the contraptions get. One of Miss Liz’s favorite children's books is Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty. Don’t be afraid to make something new, different, and of course, awesome. Each week will have a new theme and materials to work from. Students choose their own path. If they want to keep adding to a project they have already started, try something different, try loooots of different things, or get really into that day’s warm up, then they can :) Miss Liz will support students throughout the artistic process and will add some of her own crazy contraption ideas :)

Animals: Imaginary, Dream, or Real

November Tuesdays @ 4:30 pm (dates: 9, 16, 23, +30)
Grades K-6   Two session minimum suggested for more time on the cooler projects or you can always come back for more!

These sessions are built up from Miss Liz and Miss Julia’s love of the animal science books by Steve Jenkins. If you have never seen one of his books, you should check it out! We often draw close up animal and dragon eyes with our students and continue to build up all sorts of animal drawing, painting, printmaking, and 3D art projects. We also have a great selection of art games just for silly (or serious) animal ideas. Each week there will be a new warm up and new materials. Students choose their own path. If one idea really sticks or if they want to keep trying new things, then Miss Liz will be there to support them throughout the artistic process.
